Today I decided to do the Top 5 Wednesday, because I really liked this topic. I know exactly what I read before I joined the book community.
So every book in this list is from before 20 september 2014. That’s when I started watching booktube and joined goodreads and all those things.
Let’s start with the one that made me join the book community:
- The Selection series by Kiera Cass.
Some of you may know the story, because I told it in the How I choose My Books Tag. I read all 3 books in 3 days and when I finished I wanted to find similar books so I started looking online and found goodreads and booktube. So this is the one from right before I joined the online book community
- The Lying Game Series by Sara Shepard
I started these books in 2012 and I’m pretty sure Seven Minutes in Heaven was the first book I ever pre-ordered. That one came out in the summer of 2013 and I had to get it as soon as possible. I kind of want to reread them now.
- The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Yes I read this before I joined, because even if I wasn’t in the book community in the first half of 2014 I still noticed the hype for this book. I actually bought a boxset with 4 John Green books and there is still one I haven’t read yet. But from the ones I’ve read by him this is definitely my favorite. This one is one of the first books that kept me up past midnight to read. And I cried my eyes out.
- Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
I read these back in 2009/2010 and I loved them. I found out about the books from the movie. One of my friends introduced me to the movie in January 2009 and after watching it for the first time I immediately watched it again. And every day for the next week after that. Then I found out about the books. Got all the ones that were published in Dutch and started reading them. Which were book 1-3 and I had to wait until 2010 to get the fourth book in Dutch. I didn’t read in English yet at that time.
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I read all of these before joining the community. My classmate read them and saw me reading the books and she spoiled the major deaths in the last book. I was okay with it when she did it. But when I got to the last book I wasn’t happy that I knew. Not that fond of spoilers anymore. I try to avoid them, but if I get spoiled I wait to read a book at least a month so I can kinda forget the spoiler.
