I wasn’t sure if I was going to do this post, but here it is.
I’m going to be very easy on myself regarding reading goals this year. I’m only doing my 52 book Goodreads Challenge. 52 for me is a very good amount and just the thought of reading one book a week makes me feel good. So this has been my Goodreads goal for a couple years now.
In 2017 I challenged myself to do the Around the World in 52 challenge, which was hard and really limited me. I did not enjoy that, so I did not do it in 2018.
In 2018 me and a couple friends made our own challenge. even though it didn’t have hard prompts I couldn’t get in the mood to read for almost half of them. We did not make a new one for this year.
In both 2017 and 2018 I did Beat the Backlist. Which is nice, but I don’t like that I need to do a challenge to read more backlisted. I feel like I read more backlisted books before I did the challenge than during.
So for this year I’m keeping it with just my Goodreads goal. I just want to read whatever I feel like and don’t feel the pressure to finish a challenge. This is also why I’m gonna try to request less books this year.
However I will do some smaller challenges, because I want to do those
- I’m still doing the Wintertime Love Bingo I started in December. This will continue throughout January & February.
- I’m challenging myself to read a book from every author attending Yalfest NL this year. (Benjamin Alire Saenz, Nic Stone, Kristen Ciccarelli, Karen McManus, Samira Ahmed & Teri Terry. so far) I’ve already read some of the first two. so it shouldn’t be too hard to do the other four before April 21st.
- And whatever I feel like that comes along.
